Job Description

The Vice President, IT Operations is responsible for leading a complex information technology legacy landscape through a modernization transformation.  The VP is responsible for providing the vision and leadership develop, maintain and enhance infrastructure and align with business strategies, imperatives and core values.  This position has both a strategic and functional management responsibility for all aspects of IT’s network infrastructure, physical and virtual data centers, operations and telecommunications.  Specific areas of responsibilities will include: network services and management, physical and cloud data center support and management, desktop hardware and software support, platform architecture, database management, IT/business design and support, systems security, quality assurance, disaster recovery, business continuity, helpdesk and communications systems and tools.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, mentor and motivate the multi-functional IT Operations team (local employees and offshore contractors) consisting of the Help Desk, Voice and Data administration, IBM iSeries administration, Windows/Intel Server administration, and workstation engineering/deployment.
  • Partner with external service providers as appropriate.
  • Maintain cost center budgetary responsibility for the IT Operations department.
  • Define and improve internal IT business operational processes by establishing, monitoring, and reporting on key performance indicators.
  • Manage External IT Audits.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual IT budget.
  • Partner with external service providers as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the IT Strategic roll-up to Corporate IT Strategy Plan.
  • Lead the Future State Infrastructure Initiative to successful completion.
  • Establish & maintain an infrastructure strategy and roadmap aligned with the overall LPUS IT Strategy.
  • Manage internal customer relationships and expectations both within IT and with all LPUS employees.
  • Participate fully in projects and initiatives as required.
  • Establish reporting metrics to ensure that availability remains high for all infrastructure systems.
  • Establish, maintain, and test the IT disaster recovery and business continuity plans within the parameters of the BCC.
  • Manage the IT services provided to LP Mexico, LP Brazil and the local LP International team.
  • Serve as the Information Security Adviser (ISA) in a tactical/operational role with responsibility for all IT security including implementation and coordination with ISO as needed.
  • Ensure that departmental processes are designed and implemented in a way to mitigate operational risks/ losses including those related to payroll and payroll processes.
  • Effectively manage timekeeping, conduct timely performance appraisals and follow up, insure all employees meet training and development goals, including any other management duties for all direct reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, team members, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Demonstrate reliable and predictable attendance. Other duties assigned to ensure overall departmental efficiency.

Job Competencies

  • Understanding of Data Center environments including systems, power, monitoring and generators.
  • Deep knowledge of IaaS and PaaS using AWS and Azure services.
  • Ability to lead change in a dynamic IT environment in both human and technical initiatives.
  • Aptitude to develop, implement, and improve IT business processes throughout the organization.
  • Understanding of budget cycles and forecasting expenditures.

  • IT personnel must, through their respective job duties, ensure that systems and applications are developed in a secure manner, and information assets are stored and treated according to existing information security policies
Ideal Requirements 


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or other graduate degree preferred
  • CISO Certification preferred
  •  AWS Associate Certification or Azure MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure preferred


  • 10 - 15 years of experience in managing a multi-function IT Operations team 


  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • Leader with proven track record of initiating change in an IT organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Presentation skills for internal and external audiences
  • Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems
  • Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback
