Job Description

The Senior Accountant will perform a wide variety of accounting and finance responsibilities, including the preparation or review of recurring and non-recurring journal entries, account reconciliations, various tasks in the monthly close process, P&L variance analysis, and the preparation or review of various other analyses.  We are searching for Senior Accountants who are strong in general accounting concepts. 

A Senior Accountant on the LeasePlan Accounting/Finance team must adhere to tight deadlines, possess an exceptional ability for time management and organization, and be able to adapt to changing priorities.  Additionally, a Senior Accountant should have an introductory level of leadership abilities and be comfortable indirectly leading/managing others.  This position will have frequent contact with Accounting Management as well as internal and external customers, which require strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly preparation or review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other analyses
  • Review of line item variances to budget and last year during the monthly close process, including research, written explanations, and support on follow-up questions
  • Perform or review various recurring and non-recurring tasks related to many areas of accounting
  • Develop relationships with other departments in order to resolve complex and urgent challenges
  • Participate in peer meetings with other Accounting/Finance Seniors related to team development, monthly close planning, audit coordination, and other applicable tasks
  • Assist with preparation of year-end audit work papers and responses to audit inquiries
  • Participate in corporate projects which may include:  data review/analysis, systems testing (upcoming SAP implementation), and results reporting
  • Instrumental in the full review of existing processes and procedures; help to develop and implement process improvements; ensure compliance with Group policy and IFRS.
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Position qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • CPA or CPA track required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting and account reconciliations along with proven track record of strong analytical skills
  • GAAP technical skills
  • Desire to identify and implement process improvements
  • JD Edwards and AS400 experience a plus as well as SAP(LeasePlan is implementing SAP from JDE)
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills
  • Work with a consistent sense of urgency but also with a balanced plan of attack
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Accurate with exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be a team player and successfully juggle and complete multiple priorities
