Job Description

Ownership of LeasePlan USA tax function, including the Federal, State and Local tax positions and reporting, Sales & Use Tax, and Property Tax.  Responsible for a well-controlled and consistent environment and overall leadership of the Tax team.

The successful candidate will manage LeasePlan’s tax accounting processes while maintaining compliance with tax laws and accounting policies. They will work across functional areas to support the business as well as strategic corporate initiatives.


  • Manage Federal, State and Local income tax compliance and reporting, including estimated payments and extensions; LeasePlan currently files in 30 States.
  • Maintain tax calendar to ensure timely filing obligations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed tax attribute calculations and carryforwards including net operating losses, tax credits, and tax basis.
  • Identify, analyze and implement tax planning opportunities and the mitigation of tax risks.  Coordinate tax planning opportunities with the Corporate office based in the Netherlands.
  • Research and monitor issues and changes in US Federal, State and Local income tax law and regulations, and prepare technical memoranda to support tax accounting positions.
  • Analyze and prepare the US tax provision according to GAAP and supporting workpapers.  Prepare and record applicable tax entries on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for US tax accounts.
  • Support liquidity projections by providing projected tax payables.
  • Manage income and non-income tax audits and respond timely to tax notices and inquiries.
  • Manage renewal and application of business licenses, leasing licenses, and Corporate registrations with respective secretary of state offices.
  • Maintain system ownership and implementation of Vertex (or similar) with SAP.
  • Provide leadership and support to sales and property tax staff team.
  • Represent LeasePlan as our tax committee member of the American Automotive Leasing Association.
  • Liaise with internal and external audit for all taxation matters.
  • Manage relationship and workplan with external tax service providers(Big4 firm).
  • Suggest tax process improvements to increase efficiencies.


  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
    • Master’s Degree in Taxation preferred.
    • CPA preferred.
  • Experience: 6 – 8 years of tax experience with a Public Accounting firm focusing on corporate entities or in a Corporate tax department. The experience must have been in tax research, compliance and audits. Sales and property tax experience a plus.
  • Leasing Industry experience a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good relationship builder at all levels, with ability to manage multiple stakeholders and teams.
